Jimmy Stewart Stamp First Day Ceremony
Indiana, PA - August 17, 2007
While the official first day ceremony was in Universal City, CA, Indiana, PA, Jimmy Stewart's hometown upstaged them a bit with a first day ceremony of their own. With the support of the USPS, the Jimmy Stewart Museum and numerous individuals and organizations a large gathering of friends, fans and dignitaries gathered on the steps of the Indiana County Courthouse to celebrate the life of Jimmy Stewart and unveil the new stamp.

There was a vintage car show. |

A statue of Jimmy Stewart stands in front of the courthouse. |
"Harvey" made an appearance. |

The event was covered by all the local TV stations. |
The Indiana Country Singers sang patriotic songs as a prelude to the ceremony. |

The ceremony began with a salute to the flag... |
...and the National Anthem played by the Indiana High School Band. |

The Boy Scouts, a favorite of Jimmy, paid a tribute as well as other youth and dignitaries. |
The ceremony concluded with the stamp unveiling by Rick Sekinger, Erie District Manager USPS and Carson Green, President of the Jimmy Stewart Museum. |
