2008
Mail Program
The Appalachian Wagon Train has established a General Delivery agreement with the Westover post office to receive mail (letters or parcels) from May 15, 2008 to June 15, 2008 at Westover. You can take advantage of this arrangement to make this a very special day for your father or that special man in your life. Please wait until mid-May to begin sending your mail to avoid over burdening the Westover post office. Don't forget the price to mail a letter goes up to 42 cents on May 12.
If you are unable to participate in the wagon train this year you can also take advantage of this arrangement to send a letter to a friend or relative from the wagon train. Letters carried on the wagon train will be stamped "Carried Onboard" and delivered to the Curwensville postmaster for the wagon train cancellation and then put in the regular mail stream to their final destination.
Mail intended for carriage on the wagon train and cancellation at Curwensville should be addressed to the recipient (yourself, friend or relative) in the normal manner and stamped. These envelope/envelopes should then be inserted in a larger envelope, stamped and addressed to: James Vaughn, Appalachian Wagon Train, General Delivery, 103 Church Street, Westover, PA 16692. The envelopes will be stamped "Carried Onboard" and delivered to the Curwensville postmaster at the end of the trek on June 21st. This service is provided for those who will be unable to attend the trek
The wagon train will also receive mail handed in throughout the week of the trek to be given to the Curwensville post office for cancellation and insertion in the regular mail stream. A souvenir envelope will be available
A special wagon train cancellation is planned for both Westover and Curwensville
The Westover postmaster is the great grand niece of Oatie Plouse and is enthusiastic about the arrival of the wagon train. She is looking forward to handling lots of mail. Lets not disappoint her.

2003 Mail Program
On Sunday June 15, 2003 an actual retired RFD mail buggy was recommissioned and in harness for the Rockwood post office to deliver the wagon train general delivery mail to the campsite . The Rockwood post office is to be commended for making a delivery on Sunday evening and on Father's day no less. The post office certainly fulfilled its commitment "We Deliver".
