Its time to upload your web files to the Citizens web server and put them on the Internet. First, an account
on the server must be created. You'll need to send us an
e-mail to let us know to do this. Then, its time to upload
the files via FTP. FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol, and is a staple protocol of the
Internet. You can use the FTP client included with your Internet Toolkit. First, launch FTP
from the Internet Toolkit menu group. The connection screen will appear. You'll want to create
a new connection to Citizens. Click the New button, and then fill out the fields just like the
image below. Click Save, and then Connect. In the future, you can just scroll to the Citizens
connection without filling in the same information.
Once you're connected, you'll automatically be placed in your home directory. The left hand
panes show your local computer files, while the right hand pane shows Citizens files. The
top panes show directories, the lower frames show files. The image below should be helpful.
You should see a directory "PublicHTML" on the server. Double-click it to open the directory.
Now, browse to the files on your computer and select each by single-clicking ( you can select
multiple files by holding down the control key during this process ). Be sure to name your
"home page" either Index.html, Default.asp, or Default.htm before sending. When the files are
selected, click the right arrow. The files will begin to upload. When all the files are
successfully sent, the server directory will refresh, and you'll now see the files on the right
hand pane. That should be it! Your web address will be www.wpa.net/~yourname.
