Email Aliases and
25 MB Email Accounts - When implementing e-mail for a business, there are two main
decisions a company faces. First, should e-mail be addressed to Citizens own domain, or the
domain of the company. When a domain is registered, the company has the option of creating its
own "virtual" mail server. Here are the two different e-mail addresses, the first using
Citizens server, the second using a "virtual" server: johndoe@wpa.net or johndoe@yourcompany.com.
As there is no additional cost for the "virtual" e-mail server, this is often the method of
choice.
The second decision lies in the use of mailboxes. When setting up multiple e-mail accounts,
these accounts can either be aliased to one mailbox, or a seperate mailbox is created for each
user. Separate mailboxes allows for a greater degree of privacy. When e-mail addresses are aliased
to one account, that single account pulls down each addresses' e-mail. With seperate mailboxes,
each user enters a username and password and picks up just his/her mail. There is no cost for
aliased e-mail accounts. Multiple mailboxes 25MB in size cost $2.50 a month.
25MB Bulk Rate Email Account - Citizens will discount
the cost of email accounts after the 15th email account on the same domain.
Unlimited Space Email Accounts - This option does not restrict
the amount of messages that can accumulate in your email account. The size of each message is limited to 5 MB in size, but
no limit to the number of messages. (Size limited to hard disk space on Citizens servers, of course.)
Wildcard Mailbox - A Wildcard mailbox is a single email account
set up to accumulate all mail addressed to a specific domain. For example, anything@yourcompany.com. All mail regardless
of what is typed before the @ symbol will accumulate in a single mailbox.
Distribution Lists - Distribution lists allow multiple
users to recieve an e-mail message sent to a single address. For example, list@acme.com is set up to point
to 10 e-mail addresses. When anyone sends a message to list@acme.com, each of the 10 users will receive a
copy of the message. If a company has there own domain name and site hosted by Citizens, then the first distribution list
is free. Each additional distribution list cost $5.00/month.
Extended Email Service Options - If your company is lacking in workstations,
Citizens offers an e-mail to fax option, which converts e-mail sent to your address into fax format, which
is then sent to your business. (call for pricing)
Web Based Email Service - Are you already comfortable with e-mail services such as Yahoo and Hotmail, which allow you to check your
e-mail through a web browser? No problem. Citizens offers a simple web interface that offers the same
functionality.
Email Search Engine - Finally, if wading through old e-mail messages becomes a chore, Citizens offers an on-line e-mail search engine,
which keeps a copy of each e-mail that enters your company(password protected, of course). A web interface
allows you and your users to search for pertinent messages by date, subject, sender, and keywords.
